All cameras and the whole world were watching as the Philippine Bus hostage crisis dragged on for hours. After almost 12 hours of drama, the suspect, a former police captain was shot dead by a sniper as one by one police officers rush on to take out the remaining Chinese tourists.
Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza was reportedly shot to the head by sniper after officers found a way to get a shot off the suspect armed with a pistol, an automatic rifle and a knife. Mendoza is a former police officer who got axed from the service only two years before retirement after getting involved into series of cases including robbery extortion and illegal drugs. The cases filed on him led him to be dismissed to the service and all his retirement benefits forfeited.
This resulted on him as his family would say into depression that ultimately led him to hostage the Philippine bus earlier this morning at around 9 AM in Luneta in Manila with over 20 Chinese tourists on board.
Heavy exchange of gunshots from inside the bus was heard and a bystander was even hit on the leg.
As of this writing, a confirmed number of survivors and dead tourists has not yet been posted by authorities as they are still attending to survivors who were sent to the nearest hospitals in Manila.
Mendoza was asking for the cases filed on him be reviewed and dismissed.
Negotiations were made earlier during the day and some of the hostages were released, but soon after 3 PM, Mendoza opened fire making the negotiations in a stalemate.
The bus driver escaped also and was soon brought to the police station for questioning.

Dengue fever coming from mosquitoes is still a very serious health concern for many tropical countries as death still continue to rise in the absence of any cure or vaccine.
Dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) according to Wikipedia are:

According to studies of the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.5 billion people are at risk of having dengue fever while a recorded 50 million cases of dengue infection around the world continues to rise.
Health workers and advocates are though becoming more optimistic as an anti-Dengue vaccine is said to being developed and clinical tests are already being done through a human-clinical trial. The United States and Thailand are said to be busy working on the dengue fever vaccine and cure that could cure the four types of Dengue fever.
Prida Malasit from the Medical Biotechnology Unit in Thailand is very enthusiastic about the medical break-through saying, "There is no doubt on the importance of having the vaccine” as the problem to find a cure is a "formidable task for every country, not only for developing countries.”

Governments are now starting to take up stricter measures in order to prevent the spread of Superbug Genes that makes bacteria grow as a superbug.
The Superbug genes scientists said has New Delhi Metallo-beta-lactamase (NDM-1) enzyme is now widespread in India and is posed to spread on many other countries around the world through travelers bringing in the bacteria.
The bacteria is seen to undergo a gene-mutation making a bacteria drug-resistant superbugs even against anti-biotics. This NDM-1 superbug was first discovered in a Swedish patient in 2009 who was confined in hospital in India. The Lancet researchers opined that the superbug NDM-1 "can easily be transferred into common bacteria such as E. Coli" and has the potential “to be a worldwide public health problem is great, and co-ordinated international surveillance is needed" especially on countries with poor health and sanitation programs.
How to Prevent the NDM-1 Superbug Gene?
For now, scientist and researches are still studying on what vaccine or drug could prevent the spread of this NDM-1 on a patient. As of this moment there is no cure yet, that is why governments are really making sure to remind people to always take care of their health by eating healthy food, take regular exercise and food supplements and caution during their travel especially on India.

GSIS is campaigning for a Unified Multi-Purpose ID Card for all its members. This UMID Card will consolidate all other government-issued cards into just one card. Other cards that will be included into this UMID card are the following:
PhilHealth ID
SSS ID
Pag-Ibig ID
and hopefully that of the voter’s ID issued by the Commission on Elections or Comelec.
The GSIS UMID Card stems from the Executive Order No. 420 released on April 13, 2005 that asks government agencies and government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to consolidate and harmonize all ID systems.
How to Enroll and Apply?
As of this moment, GSIS has not yet released an online enrollment but members and interested are asked to go to the nearest GSIS regional offices to apply for the UMID card.
So far, around 1 million members had already applied.

A JetBlue Flight Attendant is in the middle of a controversy as he could not cool his head during a verbal tussle with a JetBlue passenger.
The incident has been described as really odd after the Flight Attendant used the public address system of the plane and uttered a mouthful of curses, used the emergency door of the plane and exited through it via a slide on the side of the plane as it touched down the airport.
An account of the event was narrated on New York Times:
“One passenger got out of his seat to fetch his belongings from the overhead compartment before the crew had given permission. [The attendant] instructed the man to remain seated. The passenger defied him. [The attendant] approached and reached the passenger just as he pulled down his luggage, which struck [the attendant] in the head.”
After the incident, police authorities swooped the house of the flight attendant and arrested the 39-year old for reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
The incident will surely have repercussions on the airline security and industry especially for JetBlue.
So far no video footage of the incident has floated. As soon as it is made available if there will be one, it will be posted here.

Mozilla Firefox, one of the most popular web browsers is set to release its Firefox 4 version before this year comes to a close. Firefox 4 is expected to have more features and an even faster browser.

My nieces and nephews are so hooked on playing Plants vs. Zombies on their PC that they even spend the whole day playing it!

Jennifer Hudson’s transformation and weight loss made other people not easily recognize her but she said that she is very much happy with how she looks right now. Further, she said that she does not intend to be too skinny.
She appeared on the TV show Good Moring America and shared about her weight loss experience and her advocacy as the spokesperson of Weight Watchers.
"No one recognizes me anymore ... I want to find a better lifestyle so I set my mind to this challenge for a healthier lifestyle." "I felt like I've conquered the world. It's about the progress. It's like, 'OK, I have a child now and I want to set a great example for him.' ... I'm educating myself. And by learning this way it makes it so much more convenient for me."
Hudson lost 50lbs and is now also working hard to educate young Americans about the importance of staying healthy.

Ivan Padilla has been rushed to the hospital after a shoot out with police authorities the other day in Makati City but was also declared dead soon after.
Padilla has been tagged as the leader of the Ivan Padilla Gang that is engaged on carnapping activities targeting luxury cars by the rich and famous. Two of its members were already arrested and sent to jail. Three more members are being hunted by police authorities together with some young and beautiful girls who are used by the gang as front into spying for their next victims.
Who is Ivan Padilla?
Authorities now say that Ivan Padilla has also been linked because of his dealings with the Alabang Boys who were also apprehended by authorities due to drug pushing. Padilla who is just 23 years old has been described as teen that first got into drugs and then went into other illegal activities. His father has been jailed before because of drug-related cases and his mother is now in jail because of peddling illegal drugs.

More jobs for Filipinos abroad are made available on the sector of Hotel and Restaurant services as announced by the Asian School of Hospitality Arts. Labor demands on this work sector it says rose as the hotel and restaurant industry saw a steady rise in occupancy in the past months.
Hotel and Restaurant Jobs Salary:
Compared to the minimum rate that many workers receive on this sector in the Philippines, OFWs working as either barista, chef, hotel managers abroad are paid with hefty sums ranging from $10 an hour for baristas to $50 an hour for hotel managers. Chefs working abroad usually earn P150,000 a month.
But of course, people at ASHA says that better education and training are still the main requirement for one to successfully work abroad on the hotel and restaurant sectors.
They said,
“The better and higher education that is obtained, the more plentiful the opportunities will be.”
