Dengue Fever Vaccine and Cure

Dengue fever coming from mosquitoes is still a very serious health concern for many tropical countries as death still continue to rise in the absence of any cure or vaccine.

Dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) according to Wikipedia are:

“acute febrile diseases which occur in the tropics, can be life-threatening, and are caused by four closely related virus serotypes of the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae. It is also known as breakbone fever, since it can be extremely painful.”

According to studies of the World Health Organization (WHO), around 2.5 billion people are at risk of having dengue fever while a recorded 50 million cases of dengue infection around the world continues to rise.

Health workers and advocates are though becoming more optimistic as an anti-Dengue vaccine is said to being developed and clinical tests are already being done through a human-clinical trial. The United States and Thailand are said to be busy working on the dengue fever vaccine and cure that could cure the four types of Dengue fever.

Prida Malasit from the Medical Biotechnology Unit in Thailand is very enthusiastic about the medical break-through saying, "There is no doubt on the importance of having the vaccine” as the problem to find a cure is a "formidable task for every country, not only for developing countries.”
