Azkals vs Singapore: The Philippine national football team has
proven that their semi-finals run last 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup was no sheer luck,
but was just the beginning of the resurgence of football in the country
dominated by basketball and boxing.
After getting a beating from Thailand
(2-1) in their first game in the group stages match, The Philippine Azkals
registered back-to-back wins and even maintaining a clean sheet against Vietnam
(1-0) and Myanmar (2-0). Getting a total
of 6 points after the group stages gave the Azkals the ticket for the
semi-finals showdown.

In the semi-finals in 2010, the
Philippines lost the chance to play a home game due to the stadium that we have
that did not pass the standards of international football. But with this 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals ticket, the game
between the Azkals and Singapore Lions will be held at the Rizal Memorial
Stadium. The game is to be held on
December 8, 2012, Saturday, at 6 PM.
Expected to flock the venue for this
exciting match are thousands of football fans.
But the Azkals despite their great
wins are not making themselves over-confident come game time.
The Azkals in their last two FIFA
friendly matches against Singapore rose triumphant, but Coach Hans Michael
Weiss said that they should forget these wins and for sure, they will face a
strong and determined Singapore football team come game time. He added, that they should be ready and that
the key for them is cohesion in the pitch.
Unfortunately, 3 key players are not
yet sure if they could see action on December 8. These are Guirado, Lucena, and Cagara. The Azkals management said that they are continuing
their negotiations to the mother clubs of these players in order for them to be
permitted to see action on Saturday.

going to be aired live by AKTIV on IBC 13.
Game will start at 6 PM. On the
other hand, fans can watch the game live at the Rizal Memorial Stadium and give
the home team the moral boost against the determined Lions.
