Philippines Azkals vs Malaysia Tigers Live:  Another international football match in our own backyard!

Our very own Philippine National Football Team, or the Philippine Azkals are going defend their home against the Malaysian Tigers on February 29, 2012.

 The FIFA-sanctioned Azkals vs Malaysia game will be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

This game is part of the preparations of both teams for the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup 2012 that will he held at Kathmandu, Nepal.  The Philippine Azkals will be playing in a group with India, North Korea and Tajikistan.

According to Mariano “Nonong” Araneta, this game will be a good one for the Azkals.

“It will be another good test for our team.  As we have said in the past, playing more international matches will only improve our team,” said Araneta.

The Malaysian football team is also a tough team.

They are actually the defending Suzuki Cup champion and has scored more against the Azkals in their previous meetings in the field.

They are also a few notches higher in FIFA world rankings at #150 while Philippines stands at #156.  In the AFC rankings, they are on #25 while our own Azkals ranks #28.

The Philippine Azkals vs Malaysia Tigers will be aired live on Studio 23 on February 29, Wednesday at 6 PM.
