Sad news for the fans of the Smart Gilas Pilipinas team as one of its key members and gunners is set to leave the team and turn on pro.
JV Casio, Smart Gilas’ point guard and shooting assassin was reported to have applied for the PBA Annual Rookie Draft which could easily land him as this year’s top draft pick.
Other players from the national basketball squad who also reportedly sent their application for the PBA Rookie Draft are Mac Baracael, Chriz Lutz, Marcio Lassiter, Dylan Ababou, Mark Barroca and Jason Ballesteros. Chris Tiu on the other hand who also reported to have been thinking of turning pro was said to have chosen to stay with the Gilas team as the program was announced by SPB to be extended for another two years.
According to coach Bo Perasol of Powerade, Casio is one of the hottest prospect.
"Well, there's no question that we need to fill the guard spot. So Casio is definitely a strong contender. He is one of the best talents out there."
So what will happen to the Smart Gilas National Team now?
