StarBucks New Logo Revealed for its 40th Anniversary (Photo)

Starbucks unveiled its new logo on Wednesday according to several online news sites.

The Seattle-based largest coffee company in the world posted on its website the new logo in preparation for its celebration of its 40th anniversary. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz called the milestone of four decades in the business as a time to “look ahead of the future.”

Shultz further said,

"Throughout the last four decades, the Siren has been there through it all. Now, we've given her a small but meaningful update to ensure that the Starbucks brand continues to embrace our heritage and also ensure we remain relevant and poised for future growth," he said.

However, CNN Money reported that the new logo received lots of negative comments from fans. The backlash is said to be building up on social media networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Apparently, the Starbucks logo has dropped the words “Starbucks Coffee” surrounding the sea nymph. The two stars separating the two words were also removed. All that was left was the sea nymph now in a single shade of green.

The new Starbucks logo will be officially used by company starting March of this year according to its official website.

What do you think of the new logo?
