After winning on a one-sided fight against Ghanian Joshua Clottey at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas a week ago, pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao is faced with the questions about retirement and hanging off his boxing gloves to concentrate with new business.
Is Manny Pacquiao retiring?
Asked about this question when he arrived in Manila, Pacquiao said that he is already pondering of retirement and this may ultimately seal the deal of a bout that will never materialize against undefeated and former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather who will fight Shane Mosely by the way. Their bout last March 13 was botched after Floyd was insisting on an Olympics-style drug testing and accused even Manny Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs.
Manny said that he may retire as he had seen that his most recent fights had mostly gone the distance and the toll of body punishment and tedious training may take its toll on him.
Pacquiao is also getting himself busy as he running for a congressional post in Saranggani province for the May 2010 elections.
If Manny retires and not fight Floyd Mayweather, it is never a big loss to him as he had proven himself already to the world and carved for himself a place not only boxing but also on sports history.
And we may all have to wait a long time to have another tremendous fighter in Manny Pacquiao inside the ring.
