On February 4, Nonito Donaire is going to face Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. for the vacant WBO super bantamweight belt. It will be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Nonito Donaire Makes Debut in Junior Featherweight
Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire is set to slug it out against Vazquez in an uncharted territory. The power puncher with lighting speed is set to make his debut in the junior featherweight division.
Donaire said that he had prepared really hard, trained hard and very much in focus for this fight.
"Handang-handa na ako, grabe 'yung preparation ko. Binigay ko lahat ng makakaya ko in terms of training.”
People who visited him training in Top Rank in Las Vegas are so far impressed with Donaire.
He is also hoping that this match will not end up in a boring way in the fight he did with against Narvaez last October.
Donaire hails a record of 27 W 1 L 0 D 18 KOs.
Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Will Show His Power
The Puerto Rican fighter, who is a son of a former world champion will definitely show that he is not a push-over during his fight with Donaire. His fight record stands at 21 W 1 L 1 D 18 KOs, showing that he’s got power behind his punches.
Despite the impressive wins of Donaire, like his one punch knock out of Darchinyan, Vazquez said that the Filipino Flash is not at all invincible. He said in an interview with Boxing Scene,
"(Donaire) is a great athlete, but not invincible. Everyone wants to imitate Manny Pacquiao and that is a big mistake.”
Vazquez also added that despite being an underdog in this fight, he will make a big surprise.
"The pressure is on Nonito Donaire. I'm going to surprise everyone, even the people who want to see me lose. I am ready to prove people wrong.”
