A Scottish Deerhound was hailed as the Best in Show and at the same time America’s Top Dog during the 2011 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Tuesday.
Hickory, the 5-year old Deerhound bested 2,600 entries during the 135th Annual Westminster Dog Show that was held in New York.
Foxcliffe Hickory Wind’s handler Angela Lloyd said,
“This dog isn’t used to cities or venues this size…It is used to chasing squirrels and deer all day on a big farm.”
During the announcement of the winner, a judge said,
"Scottish Deerhound ... is exactly the same like I studied in the standard that was about 150 years ago. Outstanding dog. Moving and type was super. All the others were wonderful."

Best Working Group – GCH Aviators Luck Be A Lady; Breed: Portuguese Water Dog
Best Terrier Group – GCH Slyfox Sneak’s A Peek; Breed: Fox Terrier (Smooth)
Junior Showmanship – Ch Pouch Cove’s Brittania; Breed: Portuguese Water Dogs
