Professor Winnie Monsod may have already been known to many as a very critical media personality asking the most difficult and sensitive of questions in a very straight forward way to very controversial personalities in the Philippines; but she is still best admired by many as a teacher.
Monsod, a former NEDA chief, an economist, wife of former COMELEC Chair Christian Monsod, and an economics professor at the University of the Philippines is well-loved by her students as she always injects fun, humor, patriotism and political commentaries her lectures in economics. But what is very much admirable to this brave lady is her last lecture
delivered to her class.
Professor Monsod’s last lecture to her class in UP was recorded and now circulates online. The video is entitled Honor and Excellence wherein the professor leaves her last thoughts to her students to work hard and help the country and not take the easy way out of working abroad after the Filipino people had relied on them and sent them to school as scholars. At one point of her lecture, Monsod even warned students that whoever works abroad she will haunt from her grave.
