Barack Obama Statue in Indonesia Draws Criticism, Relocated

The statue of a young 10 year-old President Barack Obama placed in the park in Indonesia where he once lived as a young boy has drawn a controversy after it was placed on a prominent area in the Jakarta Park.

The offline and online protests stemmed from the statue moved to a very prominent place with people saying that he does not deserve to be placed there as he is not a national hero. And only those people who have made significant contribution to Indonesia deserves to be placed on such a revered spot. This has led the governor of Jakarta Fauzi Bowo to order the relocation of the Obama statue and place it instead in a school where Obama once studied.

Governor Bowo said,

"I think that is the most appropriate place for his statue.”
