It is a blue moon on New Year’s Eve. No, it is not a moon colored blue. Rather, it is one rare opportunity happening once in a blue moon as they say, that we will experience two full moons on a month.
A blue moon is defined as the second full moon in a month.
On Dec. 2, 2009, a full moon will appear and will reaper on Thursday in time for the New Year’s countdown.
This blue moon on New Year's Eve will be visible in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America and Africa. But for those in Asia and Australia, the blue moon will appear the next day which will no anymore count as the reappearance of the full moon in a month.
For sure, there will be people who will think of any astrological significance to the event, but scientists are quick to dismiss any.

On January 1, the whole of Christendom will celebrate the New Year. But the Chinese calendar however will celebrate it on February 14, 2010 for which a new Chinese year will set in.
The year 2010 is the year of the tiger which will last until February 2, 2011. The tiger is the third sign among the twelve animals signs known on the Chinese calendar, that is basically known as a very aggressive, fiery animal that deflects fire, thieves and ghosts which are said to be the three bad lucks of any household.

But is really in store for us this coming year? I am not starting to see on television and online news different predictions for 2010. Others may believe it totally, believe some and cherry-pick or totally dismiss everything as non-sense. Others may simply that these predictions in particular for 2010 are mere approximations and guide posts for people. Superstition or whatever, here are some world predictions made by people for 2010

How true are all these? We can never tell. But the universal guideline that I guess all predictions are standing on is by making ourselves always ready for anything and everything.

The worst could have happened if not for a brave soul who foiled the attempt of Umar Farouk Farouk Abdulmutallab aka Abdul Mutallab to bomb NW Flight 253.
Jasper Shuringa who is video producer and director from Amsterdam subdued the attacker and was in effect suffered burns on his hands from the chemical powder he took away from Abdul as he pulled an object placed in between the terrorist’s legs and stripped the Abdul off his clothes to make sure no more explosives are hidden. Jasper added,
“I pulled the object from him and tried to extinguish the fire with my hands and threw it away. My hands are pretty burned. I am fine,” he said. “I am shaken up. I am happy to be here.”

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Rome and throughout the world, and all men and women, whom the Lord loves!
“Lux fulgebit hodie super nos, quia natus est nobis Dominus. A light will shine on us this day, the Lord is born for us” (Roman Missal, Christmas, Entrance Antiphon for the Mass at Dawn)
The liturgy of the Mass at Dawn reminded us that the night is now past, the day has begun; the light radiating from the cave of Bethlehem shines upon us.
The Bible and the Liturgy do not, however, speak to us about a natural light, but a different, special light, which is somehow directed to and focused upon “us”, the same “us” for whom the Child of Bethlehem “is born”. This “us” is the Church, the great universal family of those who believe in Christ, who have awaited in hope the new birth of the Saviour, and who today celebrate in mystery the perennial significance of this event.
At first, beside the manger in Bethlehem, that “us” was almost imperceptible to human eyes. As the Gospel of Saint Luke recounts, it included, in addition to Mary and Joseph, a few lowly shepherds who came to the cave after hearing the message of the Angels. The light of that first Christmas was like a fire kindled in the night. All about there was darkness, while in the cave there shone the true light “that enlightens every man” (Jn 1:9). And yet all this took place in simplicity and hiddenness, in the way that God works in all of salvation history. God loves to light little lights, so as then to illuminate vast spaces. Truth, and Love, which are its content, are kindled wherever the light is welcomed; they then radiate in concentric circles, as if by contact, in the hearts and minds of all those who, by opening themselves freely to its splendour, themselves become sources of light. Such is the history of the Church: she began her journey in the lowly cave of Bethlehem, and down the centuries she has become a People and a source of light for humanity. Today too, in those who encounter that Child, God still kindles fires in the night of the world, calling men and women everywhere to acknowledge in Jesus the “sign” of his saving and liberating presence and to extend the “us” of those who believe in Christ to the whole of mankind.
Wherever there is an “us” which welcomes God’s love, there the light of Christ shines forth, even in the most difficult situations. The Church, like the Virgin Mary, offers the world Jesus, the Son, whom she herself has received as a gift, the One who came to set mankind free from the slavery of sin. Like Mary, the Church does not fear, for that Child is her strength. But she does not keep him for herself: she offers him to all those who seek him with a sincere heart, to the earth’s lowly and afflicted, to the victims of violence, and to all who yearn for peace. Today too, on behalf of a human family profoundly affected by a grave financial crisis, yet even more by a moral crisis, and by the painful wounds of wars and conflicts, the Church, in faithful solidarity with mankind, repeats with the shepherds: “Let us go to Bethlehem” (Lk 2:15), for there we shall find our hope.
The “us” of the Church is alive in the place where Jesus was born, in the Holy Land, inviting its people to abandon every logic of violence and vengeance, and to engage with renewed vigour and generosity in the process which leads to peaceful coexistence. The “us” of the Church is present in the other countries of the Middle East. How can we forget the troubled situation in Iraq and the “little flock” of Christians which lives in the region? At times it is subject to violence and injustice, but it remains determined to make its own contribution to the building of a society opposed to the logic of conflict and the rejection of one’s neighbour. The “us” of the Church is active in Sri Lanka, in the Korean peninsula and in the Philippines, as well as in the other countries of Asia, as a leaven of reconciliation and peace. On the continent of Africa she does not cease to lift her voice to God, imploring an end to every injustice in the Democratic Republic of Congo; she invites the citizens of Guinea and Niger to respect for the rights of every person and to dialogue; she begs those of Madagascar to overcome their internal divisions and to be mutually accepting; and she reminds all men and women that they are called to hope, despite the tragedies, trials and difficulties which still afflict them. In Europe and North America, the “us” of the Church urges people to leave behind the selfish and technicist mentality, to advance the common good and to show respect for the persons who are most defenceless, starting with the unborn. In Honduras she is assisting in process of rebuilding institutions; throughout Latin America, the “us” of the Church is a source of identity, a fullness of truth and of charity which no ideology can replace, a summons to respect for the inalienable rights of each person and his or her integral development, a proclamation of justice and fraternity, a source of unity.
In fidelity to the mandate of her Founder, the Church shows solidarity with the victims of natural disasters and poverty, even within opulent societies. In the face of the exodus of all those who migrate from their homelands and are driven away by hunger, intolerance or environmental degradation, the Church is a presence calling others to an attitude of acceptance and welcome. In a word, the Church everywhere proclaims the Gospel of Christ, despite persecutions, discriminations, attacks and at times hostile indifference. These, in fact, enable her to share the lot of her Master and Lord.
Dear Brothers and Sisters, how great a gift it is to be part of a communion which is open to everyone! It is the communion of the Most Holy Trinity, from whose heart Emmanuel, Jesus, “God with us”, came into the world. Like the shepherds of Bethlehem, let us contemplate, filled with wonder and gratitude, this mystery of love and light! Happy Christmas to all!

Does the blockbuster film Avatar really have hidden messages embedded unto its storyline?
Hidden messages on films are not new in Hollywood. Films have actually become a tool for the ideologies of some groups to be shown in the mainstream if not in a more popular form of media. While other films on the other hand have become a popular political tool of select groups who want to advance their agenda in political governance. For those who have watched James Cameron’s Avatar, they say that the movies send out messages to viewers about environmental issues, concerns on the on-going war, globalization and discrimination of races.
One danger though of the trying to make a great cult out of the film is to dismiss the film as a whole and all its innate accomplishments and focus more on the disunity of ideologies.
Though obviously, Avatar has political, environmental and moral undertones in it, I think all films are. Only that the issue is fueled into a bigger concern because Avatar hit the gold mine big time.

KFC Fried Chicken is one of my favorite fried chickens being served by fastfood chains.
The fastest question then that comes to mind is how to replicate that KFC fried chicken recipe that it offers to its customers? Hmmmm….Is it a secret?
And this is what I discovered that hopefully may not get Colonel Sanders irate if one of his avid customer has replicated that same recipe at home.
From a KFC Chicken Recipe site it says:
Colonel Sanders prepared the chicken recipe about half a century ago and it is really quite hard to duplicate this recipe as it uses secret combination of herbs. To protect their top secret recipe, KFC has portions of the secret blend of herbs premixed at two confidential spice companies. After that, the blend is distributed to the KFC's offices located at different, where they are finally combined for use. There is one more point to note, KFC uses pressure cookers to fry their chicken pieces so unless you have a way of pressure frying at home, it will be quite difficult for you to duplicate KFC chicken recipe.
If you want to fry super crusty and crispy chicken like KFC, you need to dip your chicken pieces in egg, then flour, then egg then flour coating. After that, you need to fry it in a pressure cooker so that you will get the exact same crusty and crispy taste to your fried chicken which KFC is so eager to protect at all cost. Before you proceed further it is advisable to go through the article KFC Secret Recipe to know about the secret mix of the herbs used by KFC to derive that special taste. To prepare the KFC Chicken you will require the following ingredients:
1 tablespoon powdered sage leaves 1 teaspoon powdered dry ginger 1 tablespoon crushed rosemary leaves 1 pack of tomato soup mix 1 tablespoon crushed Mexican Origanum leaves 1 teaspoon sweet marjoram 1 teaspoon pepper 1 tablespoon hot pepper powder 1 chicken cut into frying pieces 1 1/2 teaspoon crushed wild thyme leaves 150 grams all purpose flour blended nicely with secret herbs combination 2 tablespoon of garlic salt 2 tablespoon of powdered chicken soup cubes 2 tablespoon of onion salt 2 eggs 160 milliliters of milk 40 gram brown sugar 3 tablespoon of dry minced parsley leaves
Method
You have to put all the ingredients mentioned above in a blender and blend it for 3 to 4 minutes barring flour, eggs and milk. Next, combine the eggs and milk and beat it to a smooth consistency after that add the previously blended herbs and work out a homogeneous mixture. and take the flour on a baking paper sheet.
Now, dip the chicken pieces in the mixture and roll them on the flour until they are perfectly coated. Fry the pieces in a pressure cooker if you have one or you can just fry them at 365 degrees F (185° C) ascertained by dropping a 2 inch square of bread, it should turn golden brown in about 60 seconds. in the hot oil fry the chicken pieces for 20 to 30 minutes, occasionally turning them so that they are cooked evenly after the chicken pieces are fried golden brown.
Drain the fried chicken for a while on the tissue paper so that it won't be so oily and greasy. Serve them hot.
Sounds so easy huh? Well, I just hope that my tastes bud will be satisfied if I could follow all the steps thoroughly. And I hope this recipe is indeed the same recipe for friend chicken that Colonel thought of.
If not, I guess it all simply means we have to once again fall in line at the nearest KFC.

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2009 Parade of the Stars is one of the much awaited event for all the people who supports the said film festival.
With the 8 entries vying for box office and different awards, the float parade tomorrow is filled with excitement. Each film entry will have to show off their decorated floats. Last year, the special award for Best Float was stripped down but is back this year.
Parade will start at the SM Mall of Asia SMX Center and will take the route of Roxas Boulevard and end up the Quirino Grandstand after lunch time.

The world’s tallest falls in Venezuela is wanted by Venezuela President Hugo Chavez to be renamed back to its indigenous name of Kerepakupai-Meru,
Its present name is Angel Falls which commemorates the American pilot who first spotted it on 1933 with a height of 3,212 feet (979 meters), and an uninterrupted drop of 2,648 feet (807 meters). To this Chavez expressed, “How can Venezuelans could accept the idea that the highest waterfall in the world was discovered by a man who came from the United States in a plane? We should change that name, right? With all respect to that man who came, who saw it."
This new move of Chavez could also be easily attributed to his vocal anti-American sentiments and policies.

Alaina Reed-Amini died at the age of 63 years old with the cause of death, her two-year battle with breast cancer.
Alaina is best remembered with her long career in Broadway with her roles in Sesame Street which she joined in 1987 and NBC’s 227 from 1985 to 1990. Her other performances includes being a cast on “Chicago” and “Hair”. While in the movies, she starred on “Cruel Intentions and “Death Becomes Her.”
She was born Born Bernice Reed and previously known as Alaina Reed Hall, in Springfield, Ohio, on Nov. 10, 1946.
According to her husband, no funeral service will be held.

The cause of death of actress Brittany Murphy is now being investigated the Country of Los Angeles Department, as further autopsy has been conducted and more tests were made to Murphy.
For now, the department could only say that “Anatomical findings show no evidence of trauma to the body.”
But tests such as toxicology and tissue studies will be done on the 32-year old actress and may wait for 4-6 weeks for a report to be out, though previous pronouncements made by officials say that she died of a natural death.

One of the hottest PBB Double Up Housemate is Sam Pinto, who entered during the late phase of the program with Rocky.
For obvious reasons, Sam is seen as a fashionista, though compared to other Housemates, Sam Pinto is the extrovert type, except maybe when thrown on a bar’s dance floor.
On the PBB House, Sam has slowly opened up part of her life with a few details for the viewers’ to savor though about her family.
Samuell “Sam” Lynne Acosta Pinto is 19-years old pursuing a degree on fashion design at the College of St. Benilde.
During the debate for which was moderated by Ted Failon, Sam partly shared about her mom being a lawyer and her dad as something not really being the provider for the reason that her parents are actually separated.
Sam started young in showbizness but more focused on doing TV commercials and doing some modeling. She started at the age of 10 and has already done some commercials like the Voice Combo and some mobile phone company.
She also joined in 2008 the MTV VJ Hunt and did have the luck to grab to top spot.

Here is the exclusive video of the Maguindanao Massacre taken by the first media crew (ABS-CBN) to arrive at the site where 57 innocent people were murdered by Andal Ampatuan Jr. and about 100 the CVOs or civilian volunteer organization.
Last week, the infamous UP Oblation run by the Alpha Phi Omega or A.P.O. was witnessed by many people at U.P. Diliman particularly held at the Palma Hall. It was not only the usual routine of the fraternity to welcome new members but also to protest the horror brought about by the Maguindanao Massacre.
Of course, there were different reactions to such a display of nudity of the UP oblation run as a means of protest for freedom, justice and truth, ranging from moralists who see this with disgust and freedom-fighters who give more weight to the fact that there is indeed a great cry for real democracy. And while some enjoyed the view of a bundle of human physique running with only their faces covered.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards 2010 or SAG 2010 awards is one of the most awaited awarding ceremonies by actors and actresses and by the whole film industry.

After a previous judge said no on trying the Maguindanao Murder case on his sala, the re-raffle of judges went on to a woman judge named Jocelyn Solis-Reyes.
Judge Solis-Reyes is the presiding judge of Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221, and is set to hear the proceedings of the case against Andal Ampatuan Hr. regarding the Nov. 23 Maguindanao Massacre.
A brief description of Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes:
Age: 49-year-old
Service: as public attorney from 1992 to 1995 and as prosecutor from 1995 to 2000. Metropolitan Trial Court judge from May 2001 until her assignment to the Quezon City RTC on Dec. 28, 2004.
Hopefully with Judge Reyes hearing the case, justice could be really be given to all the victims and their families.

If there is one song that I am looking for its lyrics it is Ganyan ang Pasko by Toni Gonzaga.
I find the song beautiful though at first Ganyan ang Pasko was not that catchy. This song is included in the music album of the teleserye May Bukas Pa, for which is now also being usually played in the show. With the album by the way is a compilation of different songs recorded by Star Records artists.
Hope to find its lyrics soon as my younger sister is also asking me to find her a copy.
